Timbeter launches new application for log counting and volume estimation of timber in containers

Timbeter’s engineering team has been working on a special solution for logs that are exported in containers to Asia. Today we launched a separate application called Timbeter Container to make life easier for those exporting timber in containers.

Timbeter Container solves numerous industry concerns: first –  the counting and measurement of logs during the loading of containers is extremely time consuming. The present option is to do this manually, as the harbour area is expensive and measurement lines cannot be used. For example measurements of 30 cbm can usually take up to hour.

Secondly, data insertion and compilation of the bill of lading consumes your time. The data entry easily accumulates errors and mistakes. Measurement reports can easily get mixed up and as often occurs, your  clients receive information that is far different that was written in the bill of lading.

Lastly, in case there’s no evidence, disagreements easily arise. We’ve heard many horror stories, where companies argue for months because when the container with timber reached its final destination (typically takes up to 2-3 months) there’s some logs missing or have different quality as expected. Many companies attempt to solve this issue by making photos with the camera from different containers – but in most of the cases all the pictures look identical and it is really hard to distinguish which packs are in which container.

Timbeter Container solves these 3 problems by removing the measurement and documentation problem, providing a simple tool for your reports. Timbeter Container minimizes possible human errors during the creation of measurements and subsequent data entries.  All your measurements are in one place and every measurement is connected with a specific container and a specific load. This information can easily be shared via a link with the receiving party. Buyers can then see in advance the quality of the wood and possible disagreements can be easily avoided.

Using Timbeter Container is easy: you simply make  photos of the packs loaded onto the containers, the application then counts the number of logs, provides the volume estimation and the diameters of each log. All the digital data is structured accordingly: each measurement belongs to a container and containers belong to a certain bill of lading. Bill of ladings and containers  are easily shared and if there are disagreements, digital footprints are always available to assess.

All the packs can be re-measured in the web-based storage module, enabling a transparent data exchange. Within the container module users have a real-time overview of all their measurements made, so you can analyze and share your data.

Timbeter Container doesn’t require any special data configuration or installation: simply download the application, insert your data regarding the bill of lading and containers from the container moduleand start making your measurements.

If you’re exporting logs to Asia – here’s the simple tool for you!
