Pile measurement is now so much simpler! Following clients requests we developed a new functionality for the automatic pile contour. This new functionality avoids any possible mistakes from the user side and makes the measurement with Timbeter even simpler and quicker.
With the latest release, Timbeter automatically detects the surface of the pile and draws the border around it. As a user you’ll simply need to tick the Automatic pile area box (see the image below) and all the bordering will be done by Timbeter. A concave contour is created around the pile, where any space larger than 32cm on the pile edge is excluded. However, only a single area is produced, so even if a log is far away from the pile, it will still be connected.
Previously you had to manually mark all of the dots around the pile but now there’s no need to do this anymore. However, the possibility of marking the pile contour by the user still remains if necessary.
Plus there’s also a possibility for the manual correction of the pile surface area – the user simply needs to draw a loop around the area to be added (begin drawing on the inside of the contour, go outside and finish drawing on the existing contour) or vice-versa for reducing the pile area.
Piles can be measured either with a fixed coefficient or the system can determine the coefficient automatically. To measure the coefficient automatically the user needs to simply select the pile density mode for measurement, and tick the automatic bordering box. Timbeter will also give the results on the volume, number of logs, diameters and so on.
The previous method of determining the pile density coefficient on only a part of the pile is still available if you need it.
