On the 8 th of March World celebrates Women’s Day. We decided to interview our female users to understand how Timbeter helps them in their daily operations
Ana Clara da Costa – Brazil.

What is your role in the company and what are your daily tasks?

I am a university student and intern of Forestry Engineering, working in development and technology projects, as well as in routines for the improvement of processes and as a contribution to the forestry sector.

How did you end up working for the forestry company?

In 2017, I started my Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry Engineering at the University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP) and, as a requirement, I started a professional internship in a leading company in the forestry sector.

For what operations do you use Timbeter?

I use Timbeter in a research of development and innovation in the forestry sector, focusing on the study of the accuracy of this application in measuring logs and wood piles to improve processes that use these measurements in their routines.

This research also aims to collect data and, therefore, knowledge about the performance of Timbeter for the measurement of diameter and volume of wood in order to contribute to the forestry sector by offering a reliable scientific basis on the accuracy of this intelligence in order to support the decision-making of companies interested in including Timbeter in their activities.

What do you like about Timbeter?

Timbeter allows obtaining accurate data in an agile and efficient way, ensuring greater operational security, connectivity between the interface teams, as well as transparency with the field reality, allowing the construction of extensive databases in less time.

Timbeter’s intelligence provides the management of data more representative of the reality of the field, supporting the management of information from digital reports that are quickly synchronized in the cloud and made available to stakeholders, streamlining data analysis, problem solving and other decision-making in the interface areas.

In summary, Timbeter composes the scenario that reflects innovation and agility, sustaining growth and continuous improvement in forestry companies.

Diversity is becoming more of a topic in businesses – what is your view on that, how can diversity benefit businesses?

Working with diversity in companies is an essential attitude to repair the social damage caused by the various prejudices in society. In addition, the diversity also contributes to the formation of multidisciplinary teams, with different talents, qualifications and experiences, which collaborate with the development and sustainability of the business in an increasingly globalized and competitive scenario from plural discussions and a more creative foundation.

In the context of gender inequality, working with the theme of diversity in companies represents an effort to strengthen the role of women in the labor market, ensure greater opportunities for them and advance in terms of respect and equity.

Can technology make a difference in how we tend to see different industries and make it more balanced in terms of gender?

Historically, we see physical work very connected to the male gender, excluding female strength from many scenarios. In addition, as we have seen in the evolution of humanity, technology allows the development of activities with less physical effort and in less time, facilitating and reducing manual work more and more. Faced with this scenario, the development of technologies contributes to greater flexibility in hiring women in roles that, years ago, would be exclusively for men due to this structured gender prejudice.

Prejudice is rooted and therefore, people often tend to question women’s work because they do not find it reliable, especially when it comes to physical work. When there is artificial intelligence optimizing some process, this unconscious bias can be reduced and promote less negative impacts on hiring women in the most varied positions, collaborating with the female conquest for their space.

There is still a lot of work to be done against gender inequality, however, technology can be an ally in providing gender balance in the various economic and social sectors.
