The second phase of the project “Implementing Timbeter’s technology for the efficient forestry management in Costa Rica” was recently launched with the participation of representatives of a diversity of sectors involved in sustainable forestry management in Costa Rica, including private companies, public institutions, universities, Non Governmental Organizations, among others.
The project is a cooperation between the Government of Costa Rica and the Government of Estonia, with the goal to support the digitization of forest management, and increase competitiveness of the local forestry sector. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica (MINAE), the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC), the National Forestry Office (ONF), and Timbeter.
Companies and organizations from different regions of Costa Rica participate in the second phase of the project, and includes around 30 representatives of the private and public sector, independent forestry professionals, researchers and university professors, among others who expressed their interest to participate in the project through a public call.
As part of the project, participants will receive training on Timbeter’s solutions through Webinars, one on one meetings and personalized customer support, and access to all functionalities of Timbeter for free during the duration of the project.
Timbeter is working with the Costa Rican project’s counterparts to include different tools specific to the country’s forestry sector, and facilitate the follow up of shipments and timber volumes throughout the entire supply chain, control and logistics planning, reduction of the administrative burden, simplification of the reporting and exchange of information between the public and private sector.
“The participants of this second phase join the companies and organizations of the forestry sector of Costa Rica that are already using Timbeter as part of the project”, said Sebastian Ugalde, Silviculture, Industry and Commerce Manager at ONF.
“The project will have a duration of 18 months, and it is expected that with the arrival of the dry season, when the forestry sector increases its operations, companies and organizations will advance in the digital transformation of their processes, and in general the forestry industry of the country”, Ugalde added.
