Ten years ago, measuring a log pile meant a tape, a caliper and a notebook. Today, forestry professionals across Europe, Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia measure piles, trucks and containers with a single photo, and the results reach buyers and managers before the truck leaves the landing. Timbeter has been part of that shift for a decade, working alongside state forest organizations, pulp and paper producers, sawmills and timber traders.

To mark 10 years on the market, we’re running an anniversary campaign: purchase a two-year Timbeter Pro or Timbeter Container licence and receive a rugged Android tablet free of charge. It’s our way of thanking the operations that have helped shape the product, and of making it easier for new ones to start with a complete field setup.

Rugged devices are a natural next step for field teams

Timbeter runs on the smartphones measurers already carry every day, and that flexibility has been central to how quickly digital measurement has spread. For many teams, a rugged tablet is a valuable addition. It helps most where measurement happens in heavy rain, extreme heat or cold, or dusty yards, or where crews spend full shifts away from a charger. A larger, sunlight-readable screen makes reviewing detected logs easier, and a dedicated device can be shared across a crew and standardized across sites.

A rugged tablet usually means an extra line in the budget. With this campaign, the device itself is covered, so teams can add dedicated field hardware alongside their licence without a separate purchase.

A two-year licence now includes a rugged field tablet

For a limited time, operations that purchase a two-year Timbeter Pro or Timbeter Container licence receive a rugged Android tablet at no extra cost. The device is the Handheld Algiz RT10, a 10-inch field tablet that retails from approximately USD 1,500. Under this offer, the tablet is free. Shipping and customs charges are covered by the client.

The logic is simple. A two-year licence is a commitment to digital measurement as a core part of the operation, and that commitment deserves hardware built for the same conditions the measurers work in.

Every specification answers a field condition

The 10-inch, 1920×1200 display reaches 600 nits for sunlight readability and supports glove and rain modes. Measurers can review detected logs and correct results without taking off gloves or waiting for a dry moment. The 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with flash captures sharp images of a pile face or container end, including during early-morning loading or inside a dim container.

The 11,700 mAh battery is user-replaceable, so a spare pack keeps a measurer working through a full shift without returning to a charger. The tablet operates from -20°C to 60°C, carries an IP67 rating against dust and water, and is tested to MIL-STD-810G, including repeated drops from 1.2 metres. Those are conditions anyone who has worked a winter landing in Northern Europe or a dusty depot in East Africa will recognize.

For connectivity, 4G/LTE and 5G data, dual SIM slots and dual-band Wi-Fi let measurements reach Timbeter Dashboard directly from the field. A dedicated u-blox GNSS receiver supporting GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS adds precise location data to each measurement. A Snapdragon 480 processor, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, expandable via microSDXC, run the Timbeter app smoothly and leave space to store measurement photos until the next connection.

Paired with the licence, the tablet supports the same photo-to-Dashboard workflow that organizations such as Polish State Forests have adopted at national scale. Photograph the pile, let the app detect and measure the logs, check the result on screen, and send it to Dashboard, where buyers, managers and logistics teams see the volume immediately. Timbeter Container users follow the same process at export yards, with volume reports ready before the container is sealed.

Consistent devices protect the integrity of timber data

Measurement data now carries weight well beyond the individual transaction. Under the EU Deforestation Regulation, timber placed on the EU market must be linked to geolocation data for the plots where it was harvested, and buyers increasingly expect traceable, verifiable volumes from suppliers. FSC and PEFC chain-of-custody audits depend on the same records. Every measurement that gets delayed, retaken or written down by hand because a device failed weakens that chain.

Standardizing on one rugged device across crews also makes data more consistent: the same camera, the same screen and the same GNSS receiver, whichever measurer is at the pile. The Algiz RT10 is Android Enterprise Recommended, so IT teams can configure and manage a fleet of tablets remotely. For companies scaling digital measurement across several sites or countries, that consistency is worth as much as the hardware.
